Ontario Provincial Police are trying to figure out who’s responsible for piloting a drone carrying illegal handguns into the country and who the intended recipient was.
Lambton OPP officers were contacted on Friday about a large drone stuck in a tree in Port Lambton, about 5 kilometres south of Sarnia, Ontario.
When police arrived to investigate, they found a plastic shopping bag attached to the drone. Inside the bag were 11 handguns.
Investigators believe the drone was flown over the border by someone in Michigan.
Officers had to call in the St. Clair Township Fire Department to assist them in the removal of the
cat drone from the tree.
As of yet, it is unknown what type of tree was involved or whether it sustained any damage.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or submit a tip online at www.sarnialambtoncrimestoppers.org.
