Rogers Outage Affecting Internet, Phone, and Mobile Users Nationwide

Across Canada, Canadians are waking up without phone and internet service after a major provider experiences an outage.

Rogers, Fido, and Chatr customers across Canada have been without service since just before 5 a.m. ET as a result of an unknown outage.

Rogers has yet to comment on what has caused this morning’s outage.

The outage is also affecting Canadians who use independent internet providers such as Techsavvy, which repackages Rogers’ wholesale internet service.

IsTheServiceDown.ca has a map of the affected areas.

In a statement on the company’s website, service interruptions can be caused by technical or equipment problems, fiber cuts, power outages, construction, severe weather, or network congestion due to emergencies.

Toronto Police are warning that people may experience issues when trying to connect to 9-1-1.
Debit and credit payments may also be affected if a business’ internet service is down.

No word on when service is expected to be restored.
