Wendy’s Canada Throws Some Not-So-Subtle Shade Towards Bell Media

Wendy’s Canada began wearing grey braids today in solidarity with Lisa LaFlamme, the now fired news anchor and ex-Bell Media employee.

Aside from dyeing “Wendy’s” famous red hair, the company also tweeted “Because a [star emoji] is a [star emoji] regardless of hair colour. #LisaLaFlamme #NewProfilePic”

The tweet was a reference to the recent reports that CTV News nightly anchor Lisa LaFlamme was fired for allowing her hair to turn grey over the pandemic, something a lot of men and women did (or were forced to do due to lockdowns).

The decision to fire LaFlamme was not influenced by her silver locks, according to Bell Media.

This tweet follows Dove Canada’s recent tweet to highlight workplace ageism by encouraging people to change their profile pictures to grey. Dove, however, denied that its tweet was targeted at Bell Media; Wendy’s Canada, however, did not mince words and mentioned LaFlamme directly.
